Nestled between the Kalahari Desert to the east and the Khomas Plateau to the west, Gmundner Lodge lies just south-east of Windhoek.

Gmundner Lodge aims to provide travellers with a very special experience in the wilderness of Namibia, in keeping with its “Back to Nature” philosophy. The lodge’s concept is based on sustainable luxury and places great emphasis on resource-conserving agriculture.

Lodge

Our main lodge is a reminder of a bygone era and invites you to come and enjoy the slow pace of life in the wild.

The heart of our lodge is steeped in safari nostalgia, with handcrafted campaign furniture and inviting lounges dotted with antique safari curios, telescopes and binoculars.

To make the most of the exquisite natural surroundings, the lodge’s billowing canvas exterior walls roll away to reveal sweeping views of the dramatic landscape and the wildlife passing by outside. Here, cloud-like loungers surround the sparkling infinity pool for a cool respite from the heat of the day, and perch on the edge of the deck to capture spectacular sunsets.

As night falls, the lodge transforms under the warm glow of flickering lanterns and candlelight to reveal an unimaginably deep onyx sky, dotted with stars. Best viewed from the expansive deck or around the boma fire.

Dining Experience

Guests at Gmundner Lodge can expect an unrivalled dining experience. The chef and his team are supplied daily with fresh, high quality organic produce from their own farm.

Guests can enjoy fruit, vegetables, eggs, dairy products, beef and venison, honey and much more from the farm. The delicious dishes prepared by the kitchen team are accompanied by award-winning South African wines.

Gmundner Farm is the centrepiece of Gmundner’s ‘Back to Nature’ vision. The farm’s innovative concept is based on the principle of sustainable agriculture, where only as much is taken from the earth as is needed.

We place particular emphasis on fine dining. Out of a love of tradition, our kitchen is equipped with the finest Gmundner ceramic tableware. A trademark of the Gmundner brand, whose history dates back to 1492.
